Tetramethylammonium hydroxide pentahydrate has been used in a study to assess strains of Pseudomnas species by a single-step gas chromatographic characterization procedure. [1] It has also been used in a study to investigate solid-state metal hydride batteries nickel oxyhydroxide-metal hydride and manganese dioxide-metal hydride.

Tetraethylammonium chloride (TEAC) is a quaternary ammonium compound with the chemical formula (C2H5)4N+Cl- or [NEt4]Cl. It appears as a hygroscopic, colorless, crystalline solid. TEAC is used as a source of tetraethylammonium ions in pharmaceutical and physiological studies, and it also serves as a potassium channel blocker.
